Women Taking Charge
Coburn Place
Transitional Housing in Indianapolis for single women and women with children suffering from domestic violence: Women Taking Charge focuses on women who are at high risk for contracting HIV.
EmberWood Center
Outpatient addiction treatment services in Indianapolis. EmberWood Center offers an array of services, such as intensive outpatient programming and most of the Women at EmberWood are court ordered. The center utilizes evidence- based approaches. EmberWood also believes that self help groups are critical for ongoing recovery.
1st Call for Women
A program of Jones Tabernacle Church, 1st Call focuses on skill building for women who are sex workers, who have been incarcerated, or are dealing with substance abuse. This program takes a holistic view on how to help the women succeed.
Julian Center
Julian Center provides counseling, safe shelter and education for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assaults and other life crises. The programs and services are design to contribute to a significant reduction in incidence of violence against women and their children.
Liberty Hall
Liberty Hall is a privately operated residential facility located in Indianapolis. It is a minimum security facility which contracts with Marion County Jail to house adult non-violent female offenders. Liberty Hall’s approach to lowering recidivism is by having programs such as residential treatment and educational programs.
Marion County Jail
Program focus is on giving the inmates life skills and GED education; the program also has over 30 religious institutions that conduct classes on a weekly or monthly basis.
Rahab Restoration Center
Rahab’s focus is on outreach programs to at-risk women. Through addiction (Intensive out Patient Program) services and family recovery for women, these women learn to articulate what role trauma has played in their lives. Women develop coping skills to strengthen their resilience and avoid continuing the cycle of victimization in their own lives.
Indianapolis Women’s Work Release
Work release is a re-entry program for offenders who are coming out of prison; this program allows the women to integrate back into society. The women are encouraged to secure a job and attend classes in an effort to make an easier transition from prison to their community.
Indiana Women’s Prison
Indiana Women’s Prison is a maximum security prison. This facility can house up to 650 inmates. Some offenders participate in time cut programs (Horticulture, Cosmetology, Substance Abuse, GED, and college courses) which takes time off their sentences; offenders also participate in volunteer programs.
Parole Office
Offenders in this program are mandated by their parole officer to attend the Women Taking Charge program; the women attend six week sessions focusing on HIV, other STDs, Healthy Relationships, Domestic Violence, Contraception and Health and Hygiene.
Diversion Court Program
The women in this program are mandated by the Marion County Superior Court to attend the Women Taking Charge program, which is held in Step-Up offices. These women attend six sessions focusing on HIV, other STDs, Healthy Relationships, Domestic Violence, Contraception and Health and Hygiene.
